Yangon and Mandalay returns to normalcy
Residents of Yangon and Mandalay report that life had returned to normalcy and people are going about their daily life in safe and secure conditions. No other major tourist sites were effected by the recent events also.
Curfew hours relaxed
With the situation improving day by day the authorities had relaxed the duration of the curfew hours imposed in both Yangon and Mandalay. The present curfew hours are now from 11 pm to 3 am only.
Emergency assistance during curfew hours
The authorities had initiated a series of measures to permit people and vehicle movement during curfew hours for emergency medical conditions etc.
Residents should approach the ward Peace and Development Councils with the request and the ward Peace and Development Councils will issue permits in such cases.
Important Tourist Sites are open
All important tourist sites such as the Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon etc. are open and all international visitors are welcomed.

The traditional Kachin Manao Festival will be held on 10 January 2006 in Myitkyina, the capital of Kachin State. Annual Naga Traditional Festival ( 12 – 16 January 2006 )
The annual Naga Traditional Festival will be held 12 – 16 January 2006 at Lishi. There is overland and boat route from Homalin – Htanmathi – Lishi & this trip without flight will cost around US $ 950 / pax ( person ). Accommodation & meals will be provided by the facilitators.
The cost of 2 way Yangon – Homalin – Yangon flight will cost US $ 400 / pax and Mandalay – Homalin – Mandalay 2 way flight fare will be US $ 325 / pax. Will provide smooth journey for guest who will not be flying.
In test “ time taking “ trip Homalin – Htamathi – Lishi will take 6 hours with rest stops in Htamahti & Lishi.
For local guides the cost with flights will be US $ 400 / pax at today’s Kyat – Dollar floating exchange rate.

The public including foreign tourists are not allowed to climb the upper level of the following 18 stupas, temples & pagodas of Bagan, Myanmar as of 01 May 2005.
Since 1998 the upper levels of the under 7 temples – Shwesigone, Ananda, Thatbyinnyu, Kandawpalin, Sulamuni, Dhamayangyi & Htilominlo Temples were out of bound to tourist & locals as of 1998.
